Color Keys

 Color keys are simple color sketches that capture the basic lighting, color and mood of a shot. They're extremely helpful because they greatly speed up the process of painting the final backgrounds by serving as a rudimentary color guide for the finished pieces. They are also a simple way to make sure that color and lighting are staying consistent from shot to shot or are changing when they're supposed to.
